Specifications for dissemination information packages (DIPs)

Access copies are recorded as an independent representation of an AIP and, as such, are subject to the representation specifications described in the Rosetta AIP Data Model and the Rosetta METS Profile.

An exported dissemination information package (DIP) is named using the IE ID, and contains a directory that is named using the REP ID as well as an METS file that is also named using the REP ID.
The REP directory contains a .tar-file containing the files belonging to the representation in the original data structure. The basis for the directory structure in the .tar-file is the entry in the “FileOriginalPath” DNX element.
The METS file contains all the metadata that are relevant for the representation:

  • Administrative, descriptive and event metadata on the superordinate IE
  • Administrative, structural and event metadata on the chosen representation. Metadata on other representations within the same IE are not exported
  • Administrative, technical and event metadata on the files belonging to the representation. Metadata on other files within the same IE are not exported.

The dissemination packages exported from Rosetta are delivered to the team responsible for the usage platform, which uploads the file to the usage platform. Upon delivery to the body responsible for the usage platform, the usage package leaves the area of responsibility of the digital long-term archive.
